My computer crashed because I was an idiot and turned it off during an update. When I restarted the computer there was a serious error and now my computer does not recognize my raid setup.
No problem though, all I need to do is find someone who will let me borrow two or three floppy disks so I can create a boot for my raid setup. Then I will be able to repair the problems to windows on my main hard drive(s).
Did you get someone to lend you some floppies? You should be able to do the same thing with a thumbdrive and boot from USB, right?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was able to get some floppies. But I am pretty sure that the computer is messed up. I can't seem to get anything to work once it gets into windows. I think I will make a visit back home and have Byron take a look at it. I have to do it before the October 8th because he is going to New Zealand. I am planning on getting a laptop anyways, but all my files are inside. Most of the files are on one hard drive, but the other hard drive is actual 2 setup with raid striping. I know that my computer has been running hot because of the lack of air conditioning in the apartment. I think my video card might have died. I don't know. Oh well!
ReplyDeletewow, that blows... I have had heating issues before and they are not fun. Did you try to vacuum out the case? Alright must drive home :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since this happened, you probably have that laptop or more by now. Make sure you backup your data, especially the important files. There are now lots of backup software you can use to ensure your data are safely stored.
